The popular resale platform has altered its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel failing to inform all shoppers about the modification. Online Platforms Response Countless users and merchants are posting online stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping. Vinted explained the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces. The platform has recommended to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually when needed, which has left users frustrated. Measurement Approach Changes Before the change, the sizes had both one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10. The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10. For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18. Member Stories Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling". "Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes. Another user, located in Scotland, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22. "If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she stated. Required Changes A different user, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing". "For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she said. Service Background The platform boasts over 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK. It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop. This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
